University Of Louisville
1798 marked the beginning of the University of Louisville which is a premier institution of advanced learning in modern times. The effort was started by 8 men with the establishment of the Jefferson Seminary and from their journey continued. The journey was by no means smooth and it was an arduous march till 1846 when the University of Louisville was created by the Kentucky legislature.
It was not until early 19th century that the University of Louisville blossomed into a full fledged seat of higher learning with the Graduate school being added in 1915, the School of Dentistry in 1918, and the Speed Scientific School in 1925. In the following years between 1928 and 1982 the University College was established and before the World War I started, the University had grown into a full fledged institution of learning.

More changes were in store for the University during and after the World War II and in 1950 the Louisville Municipal College which was an all-black institution was closed the University was desegregated at all levels. The School of Business was created between 1951 and 1953. This period also witnessed a large number of tax paying citizens moving into the suburbs.
This development impacted the revenues of the school which was receiving municipal funding. In 1965 the governor's task force suggested that the University join the higher education system of the state. The suggestion was implemented in 1970. The University is open for your appreciation during your travel in Louisville.
Throughout the rest of the 19th century changes were ushered in at regular intervals reorienting various schools of learning and regrouping others. In modern times, the University has emerged as a sought after seat of higher learning with an enrollment of over 21,000 students coming from every state in America and across the world.
Apart from academic excellence the University of Louisville is also actively engaged in promoting various forms of sports and have competitive teams participating at all levels. When you travel Louisville, do take time out to explore this great seat of learning.
