Mall St Matthews

In 1962 when the St.Matthews Mall was first opened in Louisville it was simply called The Mall and was the first of enclosed suburban shopping malls in Kentucky. Mall St.Matthews is presently anchored by leading names such as J.C.Penney, Rose's, Kaufman-Straus, and A&P. When newer malls started arriving in and around Louisville, The Mall was chanted to The Mall at St.Matthews.

Mall St.Matthews too had its fortunes shifting like a sea-saw game with existing stores moving out to the newer malls. However, they have successfully weathered the storm for nearly 5 decades now. The period between 1995 and 2007 saw a series of consolidations and expansions at Mall St. Matthews.

At present Mall St.Matthews sports total space of 1.1 million square feet including the anchor stores of JC Penney and the separate locations for women from Dillard's. Dillard's also have separate store for Men & Home. Mall St.Matthews continues to be on a growth trajectory and further expansions are planned for 2010.

The focus of Mall St.Matthews on the affluent sections of the community on the east side of Louisville. At least 30 of the retailers that you will find in Mall St.Matthews are exclusive to the Mall and cannot be spotted elsewhere when you travel Louisville KY. Services such as Mall Gift cards, transportation schedules, lost and found, strollers etc. can be easily accessed at the Mall St. Mathews as in the case of most upmarket Malls.
