Apart from the animal population set across the sprawling acres, every October, visitors have the rare opportunity to enjoy the world's largest Halloween party at the zoo. During your Louisville Kentucky travel, if you are planning to join the party getting a membership of the zoo would work to your advantage in more ways than one.
During this time, the ticket line tends to get long, really long and members have the advantage of a walk through skipping the line. And, that will mark the beginning of some of the advantages you enjoy as a member.
The Louisville Zoo takes special care to ensure that every child who arrives here for the annual fete has loads of fun and enjoyment apart from a few goodies to carry home. While dressing up for the Halloween party is essential for the kids, parents too can join the fun with appropriate attire.
The zoo was operating an open air car train service to take visitors around the expansive acres, but the facility has been suspended following an accident in October 2009. Please check back at the official web site of the zoo to find if this has been resumed. Alternatively, you can also refer to web pages on Louisville travel guide.
For the Locals who need gardening space, the zoo offers 'adopt a garden' scheme which is a volunteer program allowing families, groups or even individuals to adopt designated garden sites throughout the zoo. The adopted gardens will carry the name of the group/individual. More details on the scheme can be gathered from the zoo.
