Kentucky Center For The Performing Arts

The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts plays an important role in the arts scene in Kentucky and its neighborhoods. It is among the major performing arts centers in Kentucky and Louisville is home for the Center.

The Center which was dedicated in 1983 also hosts artworks by popular names likes Joan Miro, Aexander Calder, John Chamberlain, Jean Dubuffet and others. Among notable programs hosted at the center is the debate on U.S.Presidential election between Walter Mondale and Ronald Regan.

The Center is also actively involved in imparting training to teachers with the objective of taking arts into classrooms. Arts Academies is a one week program for the teachers from public schools in the Kentucky region.

This program goes under way at 6 different sites across Kentucky every summer. "Kentucky Institute for Arts in Education' is responsible for conducting a 2 week seminar for professional development of teachers in various facets of art such as music, drama, creative writing, and visual arts."Arts education showcase' is yet another program which is a part of the 'Kentucky Teaching and Learning Conference'.
